I Think

- and this is a big think - I'm going to start walking to and/or from work on a daily basis when it gets warmer and there's more daylight.  Make like Jared the Subway guy.

Everyday People

I already walk home from work occasionally, about once a month.  It's nice to see the shore and listen to my iPod.  It's about six miles, one way, and I can do it in about 90 minutes.  I think it will be a battle committing to it in the morning, when I hate to lose precious sleep-in time.  Maybe I'll start working it in gradually on evenings and see where that goes.

I don't plan on doing any theater for awhile, until I get a handle on how performances can affect my job schedule.  So I need a new hobby.  I've been looking into marathon walking, but I don't plan on looking like one of those jerks with flinging arms.  I can do distance without looking like a jerk.  I've been thinking about spending time on Saturdays trying to tackle parts of the Chicago marathon trail.

I'm just putting this out there, so I'm sorry if I'm rambling.

Manda, do you want to think about traveling to do marathons together, with you running?  There are really cool ones all over the country.  It might be a fun bonding thing!

I'll let you all know how this develops.

So there's that,

Laura

My Man Mitch would love you. "Walk to work, take the stairs, and quit smoking if you can".

I have found that there are 4 mths out of the year that I'm "comfortable" walking during the day. April, May, September, and October. March is normally warm enough, but too fricken windy.

I'm aching for spring so bad this year, I want to get out and play Gavin!

I know! I hate summer, but I'm going to try to use it to my advantage this year. After all, the lap pool at my park district is free in the summer!

And you can always walk Gavin up to band practices!

I wish there was a way to edit after you leave your comment. I just read mine again, I saw where I had left out a word. While I'm sure you got what I meant, it bugs me when I see grammar errors.

I would be interested in that. I need to build myself back up. I'm running 3 miles 3-4 times a week. I think it will be awhile before I could run a marathon, but that's definitely a goal I'd like to reach by the time I'm 35 or 40 tops. I could walk the rest anyway.

Boy that sounds wierd-40.

Yeah it does, you fucking freak.

Eh, you're in the baby years of your thirties. You're like Ella's age in your thirties. And if you think about it that way, Ella's older than you.

Weird.

I have found disc golf to be quite enjoyable. All you need is a disc (or "frisbee" can be purchased either online or at a shop somewhere...the best shop around here is a liquor store) and a course. I have no clue what the DG situation is up in Chi-town, but I think it might be worth checking out.
www.pdga.com At the top of the webpage is a title bar, and all the way to the right on that title bar is a button "Course Directory". Input your zipcode and see what you can find.
